postion: National Institute for Communicable Disease Control and Prevention>>About DVBCAbout DVBC
The Department of Vector Biology and Control (DVBC) engages in disease vector biology and control with focus on: 1) Disease vector surveillance, risk assessment, alert and emergency response to vector-borne diseases;2) Disease vector management strategies and techniques with emphases on sustainable and integrated ways, including chemical and non-chemical measures evaluation and preparedness, pesticides resistance management, etc.; 3) Research on vector biology, ecology and transmission mechanisms; 4) Taxonomy and distribution of disease vectors in China; 5) Bartonella infection etiology and epidemiology and their management.
In addition, DVBC provides a comprehensive technical guiding and training on vector surveillance and control at national level in China. It dedicates in the technical support for the national vector surveillance systems of China.
DVBC has been dedicating in establishing the three platforms of disease vector surveillance, pesticide resistance monitoring and vector identification based on specimens and internet.
DVBC has applied some projects on vectors or vector-borne diseases funded by Mega-Projects of Science Research, Public Service Project, Key Technologies R&D Program, NSFC, Key Technique R&D Platform Program, and so on.
